As St. Scholastica sensed her earthly end approaching, she asked her brother, St. Benedict, to remain longer during his annual visit. Bound by his rule not to spend the night away from the monastery, he refused. So she turned to God in prayer — and a sudden, fierce storm arose. Realizing he could not return to the mountain monastery, Benedict exclaimed, “What have you done?” And so, the twin saints remained together, speaking of Heaven through the night.
